The Beginning - Site prep work was by Randy Best Excavating, Inc., Clyde, NC.  They did a fantastic job of setting the stage for our dream home.  The foundation and construction of our home will be by Glance Construction, also from Clyde.
Delivery - Our first delivery of three trucks was made on 13 September 2010.  It took about 6 hours to unload the trucks and store the material around the foundation. Our dealer rep, Brian Riesett, inventoried all the materials as they came off the trucks.  We received everything we expected on this shipment with no noticeable damage.
Construction - 1   Glance Construction began erecting the Thermo Wall Panels on Oct 11, 2010. The panels are 2x6 framed lumber with EIFS Grade EPS (expanded polystyrene) insulation.  The outside wall of the panels is covered with 7/16 inch OSB sheeting.  The finished wall will have a thermal resistance of R-27.
Construction - 2  The first floor Thermo walls have all be erected.  Next comes the framing jungle for the first floor and the joists for the second floor system
Construction - 3  The first floor framing is complete.  Time to move on the second floor and install the Thermo wall panels.
Construction - 4  All the walls have been completed.   The factory trusses have been delivered and installed.  Most of the roof supports will be stick built on site.  The large glu-lam beams will support the roofing.  We had our second snowfall over the weekend and the daytime temperatures are only expected to be in the 30's for upcoming week.
Construction - 5  Winter has set in, we had our fourth snow event over the Christmas weekend.  This one dropped about a foot of snow on our building site.
Construction - 6 We've had two measurable snows since the new year began.  Both storms totaled about 12-14 inches.  Today's snowfall will be the third of the year, the forecasters say that the higher elevations may get an additional 4 to 6 inches.  Needless to say, construction has slowed down.  This is especially disheartening since the builder is still trying to get the house under roof.
